Potty talk

Teagan is an odd little duck.  She's tiny for her age in height and weight and has minimal hair growth, so she looks like she's about one year old.  Her talking is coming along for sure, but her physical development is impressive.  She's daring and constantly testing her limits.  She's fast and climbs on everything.  So it's not entirely surprising that she's very aware of her bodily functions.  For months she's been telling us when she's going potty.  Well, today she told me before we got in the bath that she had 'oddy'.  Since there wasn't a puddle at her feet,  I put her on the potty.  She requested a book (just like Piper), and she went potty (both kinds!).  Now, we are not starting potty training because we don't enjoy frustrated children or random puddles on the floor, but we'll probably let her go as often as she chooses to try.  After she went potty she was very pleased to get a jellybean, also just like Piper.  These kids.  They'll do anything for candy.

Cousins

Leo and Piper spent some time together today.  Their favorite activity by far was watering the lilac plants we have bought but have yet to plant.  Which was good for the plants.  And for the kids.  Everyone wins.

Pouty Piper

Cousin Nicole had to get stitches on her last day of elementary school :(  (Often the Overends have several summer calamities, so while not surprising that this is the first hopefully it is the last.)  Piper wanted to text this picture to Nicole to show her how sorry she felt about her injury.  I would post the pic of Nicole's gashed leg, but it's not for the faint at heart.

The difference

This is Piper lounging on the couch.

This is Teagan lounging on the couch. This is why Teagan gets hurt all the time.  She can't just play it safe.

We raised 4 butterflies!

I had no idea caterpillars grow so fast!  This was a fun science project.  We got to watch them turn into chrysalises and build their cocoons and emerge!  Then about 3 days later, on a beautiful sunny day, we let them go! Only one wanted to leave (yes, life IS that good at casa de McAvey), so a day after that we evicted the other three for their own good.

Neighborhood nursery

These pictures were taken at our neighborhood nursery, where they have a fun water feature.  Moments after this photo was taken, one of the staff warned us that the water could have traces of fertilizer in it, so the fun ended quickly thereafter.

Teagan's 21 month stats

After Teagan's poor showing at her 18 month check up, the doc suggested we try Pediasure and come back for a weight check.  New weight?  20 lbs 8 oz (2%!).  Back on the charts, baby!

A Royal Affair

Piper attended a royal tea party at the community center on Saturday with Mommy and Grandma Sue.  She made a crown, had an etiquette lesson, won a door prize and had some pink lemonade and tea.  She even took part in a fashion show!  You were allowed to go up there with your mom, but Piper was bold enough that she didn't require an escort ;)  That's my princess!

Kindergarteners!

Piper had her kindergarten orientation last Thursday!  This is her with her TenderTime friend Charlotte testing out a seat in the back of the school bus :)
