Second tooth!

Piper lost ANOTHER TOOTH tonight!  It's a record for her - two in one day!  The tooth fairy better come ready with some serious coin!

Lost tooth!

This morning Piper couldn't go to church because she had a loose tooth and was worried she might lose it at Mass and then not be able to find it.  Also, this loose tooth seemed to be causing Piper some discomfort, which is different than what she's experienced with other loose teeth.  So Teagan and I went to church on our own, since Teagan had Sunday School and I had to teach it.

As we were leaving church, dad sent us this picture!  Hooray!

Medal!

Today was Piper's last basketball game of the season.  She had a full day, and so did Teagan by extension!

In the morning, Piper had a playdate with her friend Livia.  Livia is a joy.  She suggested that she and Piper clean the playroom as an activity.  She's welcome back anytime.

But really, she and Piper get along very well and have a lot in common.  She's in Piper's Faith Formation class, but also used to go to TenderTime.  And her mom works at the salon where my hair stylist works.  So we've all known each other for longer than we realized initially.

After that, we went to Piper's final basketball game.  At the school we got to see Piper's name on the wall as a result of her reading minutes in the school Read-a-Thon.

Piper's team played a team that was very advanced.  I say it's because they had a female coach.  But there was a girl on that team that was a full head taller than the tallest girl on our team.  Yikes!  It ended up being a bit of a rough game but the girls didn't seem very bothered by it.

The girls each were presented with a medal and a token for a free ice cream at Culver's.  So the kids (and parents) all went out for ice cream.  They always have fun when they get to just hang out together.  And Piper and her bestie Evie closed down the joint.  (Well, not the joint, but we were the last of our group to leave.)  It was a long but good day.

Basketball buddies

Piper's team played an awesome game today!  Piper's team is orange, so as you can see she played against two good friends who were on the blue team.  But they don't keep score (the kids or the refs).  They just have fun out there and cheer for each other.  It's fun to see how much better they've all gotten in the past several weeks!

My three fairy friends

This morning I took Piper, her friend Amelia, and Teagan to a place called Color Me Mine, where you can paint pottery.  The girls had a blast.  Surprisingly (or maybe not) Teagan was the most focused of all the kids and had the longest attention span.  :)

Piper's a yellow belt!

Tonight Piper had her belt test and graduation.  She went from a three-stripe white belt to a yellow belt.  As part of her test, she had to break a board with a kick.  She did a great job!  She was nervous, so I'm very proud of how brave she was to complete the test.  And the reward?  A step up on the Taekwondo ladder.  I have a video of her breaking the board - I think I can turn it into a still frame - I'll try to post it!

 Nervous before the test!

 Presented with her new belt!

 The graduates.

 Her favorite - Master Jones.

So this happened

Last night during Piper's Faith Formation class - which I usually help teach - I was recruited to run the nursery.  It was so fun!  Teagan was in there with me of course, because that's where she goes while Piper learns and I teach.

After a great evening, I loaded the kids up in the minivan and crossed behind it to finish buckling Teagan.  And then, I fell.  On a barely visible patch of ice.  And smacked my head right on my temple (ow).  And apparently landed on my wrist, although I didn't realize that until later because I was so preoccupied with my head.  I also have a nasty bruise on my hip and my entire left leg aches.

So after I drove home that night, Grandma Soup came over to watch the girls and get them to bed and Dan and I headed to urgent care.  It's about 90% a mild sprain or contusion, but there is a chance I broke a very small bone at the base of my wrist.  It doesn't show up well in x-rays. So, if I don't heal, that's how we'll know it's the unlucky 10%.  Wish me luck!

Also wish me luck as I care for two kids with one hand.

Someone's turning 8 at the dojo!

What's the best part about going to your friend's birthday party at your karate dojo?

You get to watch him cut his cake with a Samurai sword!

You get to break a board for your favorite instructor, Master Jones!

And if you're Teagan, you just get to run around like crazy for a few hours. :)  Priceless.

(We know Christopher and his family from church.  They just happen to go to the same dojo as we do!)

Playin' hoop

Piper's playing basketball this winter, just for a mini-season.  She's definitely learning a lot, and most of the time - when she's not too frustrated - she's having a ton of fun!
