Hello, it's Halloween

Happy Halloween!  Hope you had a great one!  We enjoyed ours quite a bit.  On Friday Dan and I took the day off to go to Piper's Halloween parade at school.  Boy did we learn a thing or two.  Primarily, come early and bring provisions to camp out for a while, otherwise it's back of the line for you, chump!  We were, in fact, in the very back of the auditorium, but someone let us squeeze nearish to the front to take a video when the kindergarteners marched by.  It's good we had video documentation of Piper marching and us in the background screaming "Hey Piper!  Over here!  Piper!", because otherwise she wasn't compelled to believe we had showed up.

Trick-or-treating on Saturday was fun.  But, as always, cold.  Piper had greater than usual stamina for going from house to house, but Teagan was unstoppable.  We covered a lot more ground this year just at Teagan's insistence.  I'm not so sure that she cared about the candy, but trucking around on uneven pavements in harrowing conditions for hours on end?  Now that's her bag!

Just a lazy Saturday

Well, for some of us.

Mom and Piper cuddled and read by the fireplace.

Since no one else was doing them, poor Teagan got stuck with the dishes!

Pirate pancake party!

We're not exactly sure.  There were kids dressed as pirates. And there were pancakes.  Make of that what you will. :)

Playground pitstop

Dan took these lovely ladies to one of the playgrounds in our neighborhood this afternoon.  It was a perfect day to be outside and burn off some energy!  The girls were excited to be hanging with their Dad!

BBQ!

Today was the all school barbeque!  This is a picture of Piper and her bestie, Sadie.  Sadie is the daughter of one of Dan's high school friends.  We were so happy they were put in the same kindergarten class!  It's so funny to think about - Sadie was at our baby shower for Piper!  She was 9 months old.  And Piper was about 36 weeks!  They're so young but they already have a history :)

Letter carpets and iPads and friends - Oh my!

Piper spent some quality reading time using an app on the iPad and chilling with her buddies.  Their teacher is very tech savvy, and it's no secret that Piper knows her way around an iPad.  Kids these days!

Fun run!

Piper's class participated in a fun run!  They raised money for a few weeks by creating their own website, and either received straight pledges or pledges based on a certain amount of money per time around the track.  Piper ran around the track TWENTY NINE times!  This is the collage her teacher made of the event.

She's feelin' the need for speed!

Today we went to Piper's friend Sadie's birthday party. We're also good friends with Sadie's parents.  Teagan isn't really friends with anyone in that circle (yet), so in typical two year old fashion she decided to take the opportunity to log some playtime on never-before-experienced toys.

She gravitated toward this battery operated sports car, and we literally couldn't pry her out of it.  It was like trying to get an uncooperative cat into a crate, except the other way around and with a kid.

We were going to get her a station wagon for Christmas, but now she's spoiled.

Piper's school pic

Kids + nature = fun

Piper's class had a naturalist visit today, and they spent a bunch of time outside doing... well... nature stuff?  I'm actually not sure what a naturalist is, but it looks like fun :)

Is it a bug?

Nope.  It's a dreadlock that Teagan created in and then pull out of her hair.  I can't say she looks exactly upset when this happens.  Nor satisfied with herself.  She just comes running over to us and says "I pulled my hair.  Out of my hair!"  And we say "Yes, yes you did."  And say a silent prayer that she'll outgrow this before we start noticing bald spots.
