Her prince charming

Tonight was Piper's first daddy daughter dance through school.  She dressed up in her "wedding dress" and Dan donned his suit and jacket, and off they went to the ball.

Dan's high school friend Scott and his daughter Sadie were also at the dance.  Sadie and Piper are best friends - how cute is that?  That really happened without much orchestration from us.  They just apparently really like each other.  Which is awesome, because if I were going to pick a best friend for Piper I would want it to be someone like Sadie - sweet, from a great family, just a good kiddo.

At the dance, Sadie gave Piper a best friends necklace (with the heart that breaks in two pieces and each friend wears half of the heart on a chain).  It was her idea, her dad said, and she used her own money to buy it.  They are the most adorable friends!  They hold hands everywhere they go. :)

So, now for the pictures.  Just wanted to give you a little background on what you're looking at.

An evening outting, from Teagan's viewpoint

Hey guys, wait up!  I'm comin'!  I'm runnin'!

Well the steps might slow me down a bit....

I didn't know I was going to have to scale a wall...

Now I'm almost caught up with you in this giant outdoor ampitheater...

I'm here.  So now what?  What are we doing?  What, fish?  There aren't even any ducks?  I ran all this way to see some fish???  I feel like there was talk of ducks when I climbed into the minivan...

Ooo, okay, now that looks fun.

My sister is nuts...

The singing, clapping and dancing on elevated concrete surfaces, now that I like...   Fun outing Dad - worth the trek!

Scavenger

Tonight Teagan didn't approve of her dinner selections, so she threw her plate on the floor.  I immediately unbuckled her from her booster seat and instructed her to pick up her food and throw it in the garbage, and put her plate and her place mat into the sink.  She ran and nabbed some grapes that had rolled almost into the dining room, and then picked up a piece of sandwich that was stuck, jelly-side down, to the floor by the dishwasher.  She threw them out.  Then she plopped down on the floor, turned her plate over, and began to eat her cantaloupe, strawberries and cashews.  Off the floor.  That I hadn't washed in about 5 weeks.

I had a few options at that point.  A few fighting priorities.  We don't eat off the floor.  That's one lesson.  We do, however, eat.  That's another lesson.  I decided to go with that one, and handed her a fork, her milk cup and a napkin.  Bon appetit!

Silly, happy faces

Here's a pic of Teagan being silly.  After we took this pic, she looked at me, as she sometimes does, and exclaimed "Mommy, I'm happy!"

Music to a mama's ears.  And naturally - regardless of my previous state - as soon as I hear those words, so am I :)
