The Great Northern Tufted Teagan

Five year well check

As we were leaving daycare to head to Piper's five year well check, she fell :(  It was a bad scrape on her left knee and some little scrapes on her hand.  Not a good start to the doctor visit that requires shots.  But turns out... no shots today! I had brought Teddy and Clothy with us for comfort after the immunizations I thought she was due for, but turned out we needed them for comfort after the spill she took en route to the clinic.  At least we had them!

Piper was pronounced a very healthy five year old!

Weight:  41 lbs, 60%
Height:  42.75 inches, 57%

The doctor said she's growing perfectly. :)  (We knew that...!)

At least we know we're loved

While Laura and I spent a few minutes together after dinner, catching up on each other's days, Piper wrote the following note.

To be fair, neither of us had a particularly interesting day.

Never too big...

Except... when you are.  Teagan has decided she likes riding in the doll stroller.  I made the mistake of pushing her around last night, and now she won't take 'no' for an answer.  I wouldn't push her today (because it's a very bad idea), but she got Piper to do her evil bidding.

Teagan's daycare do

She doesn't like me to mess with her hair, but at daycare she lets her teachers do all sorts of stuff.  Last week when I picked her up she had 3 top knots sprouting from her head!  (It was actually terribly cute.)

Big day

Piper had a field trip to the Minnesota Zoo today!

Some people say I love you...

As anyone who knows Teagan is aware, Teagan loves to play with hair.  Well, she doesn't just love it, it's more than that.  It's her safety blanket, the pacifier she never had, her coping and calming mechanism.  She plays with her own (and twists it to the point of dreadlocks which is why we have to keep cutting it out), mine, even Dan's.  And... Piper's.  What's sweet is, that Piper - who screams bloody murder when I comb a knot out of her hair as gently as humanly possible - lets her, and doesn't complain at all.  Ever.  About the hair, at least.  She just sits there, and accepts that this is what Teagan needs from her.  Sister love - it comes out at the most unexpected times and almost always in completely unpredictable ways.

4th of July fun

(She didn't like the life jacket she had to wear on the pontoon.)

Fast forward

Same Starbucks, about 3.5-4 years later.  The really big difference being, now she's old enough to know she can demand a free cookie. :)

Things change, things don't.
