The Wubble

This is one of Piper's birthday gifts - a weird mashing of a bubble and a giant ball.  After the girls played with it for about 10 minutes, it popped.  (But this seems to be expected, as the instructions that come with the Wubble clearly outline how to return it for a new one if it doesn't hold up.  I guess trying to make a bubble ball that won't pop is like trying to...  um... you know....  just fill in the blank I'm too tired tonight but you get the point.)

Poor kid :(

In the middle of the night on Saturday, Piper starting throwing up. She threw up all throughout the night and into the morning, so we had to cancel her Sunday birthday party at the water park with her friends.  Poor Piper!  She felt so sick that she didn't even seem sad about it though, she mostly seemed relieved.

What it meant for Dan and me is that once the clock struck 9am (which seems like the acceptable time to start reaching out), we hit the phones, texts, emails to make sure that we could communicate the change to Piper's expected guests before they donned their swim suits and jumped into their cars.

We think we were able to get to everyone, but we still gave the pool coordinator a heads up that should anyone come ready for a party, send them away but keep the present.  Haha, just kidding.  We requested all presents be directly delivered to the house.

We were able to reschedule the party for two weeks from now, so we just asked that they share that new information.

So fingers crossed that Saturday night two weeks from now is completely uneventful.

What's going on down here?

I was late coming down for dinner (two rowdy kids in a bubble bath with 11 dolls - I had some damage control to do in the upstairs bathroom).  Don't ask me what I missed, because I have no idea.  Other than I clearly missed these three sillies being, well, silly.

Sunday morning in the sun

They're baaaaaaaaaaaack

The nest is back!  The robins are back!  They built this nest overnight about a week ago in the play structure in the backyard.  Today, there were four bright blue eggs!  And one pissed off Robin parent, when two noisy kids came tromping up into the fort.  The bird flapped around in there for a while (while I screamed repeatedly for my kids to get out before their eyes got pecked) and then moved onto the fence top to chirp and pace back and forth at a near distance.

So, since we're soooo excited about seeing the baby birds, we'll make the necessary sacrifices over the next few weeks to keep the Robin parents happy.  Apparently it means not even coming into that corner of the yard, because I got dive-bombed while trying to evaluate the health of one of our corner lilac bushes.

End result

when you let the kids put on their own sprinkles.

(Teagan actually only put on a moderate amount of sprinkles; she's always that messy.)

Piper's lunch date

Dan volunteered for Sports Day today, and after Sports Day concluded, he was able to stay and have lunch with Piper and her friends!  To the far left is Sadie.  The other little girl is Abbie.

Piper was very happy and proud to have her daddy come to eat with them.

Won't you join us?

Piper's best friend Sadie's (far right) mom came to have lunch with the girls!  The toothless friend in the back is Jessica :)  The happy kiddo on the right is Miss P, enjoying a guest at the table.

Oh what a difference a year makes
