Successful trip to the dentist!

Piper had a great visit at the pediatric dentist, and Teagan had her first visit!  She was very brave, and got to watch sis get her teeth cleaned first.  They had chairs in the same room as one another and were given fun things, like prizes and water bottles.

Andy's visit

Piper was the first student to take home the class pet this year!  He had some fun adventures while he stayed with us, and was a very sweet and low maintenance guest.  He even got left at Piper's bestie's house overnight, and he didn't even fuss!  He was with us for a week.  (To be honest, most of the time we forgot him at home, or in the diaper bag, or the car, so he really didn't experience that many adventures.  We had a lot more fun than we photo documented.)

Andy's first act of heroism was cheering up Teagan after her flu shot.

He was left behind after a princess tea party for Sadie's 7th birthday.

 And he and Piper loooooooooved wearing Mommy's FitBit.  (And there are some days, I'd be willing to bet, that a stuffed elephant really does out-step a full time working mom.)

A new take on permanent make up

This is what happens when you leave these two ladies alone with some (non-washable!) magic markers.  Teagan didn't care that hers wouldn't come off, but Piper was a little worried about having to wear purple eye shadow to school the next day.

Given that I don't wear eye shadow or eyeliner, I was actually impressed that they did such a good job with their application.

First grade life

Piper is enjoying first grade!  She has a lot of friends in her class, and sees any other friends from last year at recess.  She even seems to be getting along with her daycare frienemy on the ride to school!  A good start to what we're confident will be a great year of learning and new experiences.

First day of first grade!

Piper's back in action!  She had a great first day of school today.  She has lots of friends from last year in her new class and really likes her teacher so far.  Her best friend Sadie isn't in her class, but they have come up with a plan to meet by the monkey bars at recess.  And her buddy Evie, with whom she did all of her pull out time last year, is in her class this year.  Those two are very well matched, so I know they'll love learning together.  She also has a nice boy Mehdi in her class - she told me yesterday that she really like him, and said he 'knows everything!'.  (For kindergarten when they had to draw a life-sized portrait of themselves, Mehdi was in a white jacket with a stethescope around his neck, so he's probably pretty well connected to a knowledge stream.)

She came home all smiles today, so we're all excited for her year to come!
